'LOOSE LEASH/COMPANIONABLE WALKING -Taking it OUTSIDE

The next steps in your loose leash walking/companionable walking protocol is to move your training to your yard/driveway/outdoor are making sure though that it is still a distraction free environment. If your puppy or dog starts to get wiggly or jumpy, stop the exercise and play with them a bit allowing for some tension release and decompression. As guardians we need to understand that this exercise is difficult and requires a lot of concentration and impulse control for the dog. Remember too that you are not looking for perfection - your dog is always trying their best. If they are not getting it right usually it is because your communication and teaching skills need adjusting. TRAINING TROUBLESHOOTING: If your dog is constantly trying to move in front of you like Max is doing in this video, it is because he is tracking to my treat pouch which I should have placed at my left side instead of at the centre of my body. If you are having trouble in your training session, stop and think; what am I possibly doing wrong in my approach to teaching in this moment before immediately thinking the dog't can't learn.
